“The competition has been incredible”

Iwant to thank everybody for getting involved in the Motorsport News Chris Ingram Rally Challenge. The uptake has been incredible. We had over 1000 people join in the first day and now have well over 2000 competitors registered to battle it out on the stages – it’s mega. Hopefully it’s been a great source of entertainment for you all.

I’m obviously more used to driving a car in real life than I am in the virtual world, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised how useful this practice has been. It’s really brought out the best in me as I want to do the best I can and with testing the car beforehand too, it’s helped keep me focused really well for when we get the chance to drive a car for real.

But the other side to it is that it’s been really good fun as well. The competition has been super close right the way through the field. It’s been fantastic to see so many real-life drivers with a strong pedigree taking part too with guys like German and Italian champions Fabian Kreim and Andrea Crugnola for example. WRC esports champion Jon Armstrong helped design the game so he’s definitely the target for a lot of us,

I hope to try and match and beat his pace.

The sim racers are giving us all a real run for our money. Some of these guys are unbelievably quick and I think some of them could do very well in real life provided they have the same bottle and commitment in real life that they do on the game.
