Former British Formula 4 driveralex Walker will compete in the 2020 National Formula Ford championship with the Pwr1 team.

Sixteen-year-old Walker completed a part-season in F4 last year with JHR Developments. He now switches to FF1600 for its three-meeting 2020 National campaign, the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy as well as Champion of Brands rounds.

Pwr1 team boss Phil Wills told Motorsport News: “Alex was trying to do Formula 4

[in 2020] but with it being just so much bloody money at the moment with everything changed in the world [he didn’t]. So he’s bought a Van Diemen and he’s going to do the remainder of the [FF1600] championships and whatever races he can fit in. He’s probably one of the brightest kids I’ve seen in a car for a long while on ability. I also used to run his dad Jeremy in Formula Ford back in the day!”

Reigning Heritage FF1600 champion and multiple Champion of Brands victor Oliver White will also complete a full National campaign in 2020, with Souley Motorsport. “I’ve wanted to do National for a while,” White told Ff1600website. “Normally, with it being such a long year, being a farmer it’s difficult to get the time off.”

Castle Combe FF1600 champion Luke Cooper also is to compete in this season’s opening National round as well as in the opening Combe round, before deciding which of the two to commit to for the rest of 2020.

Cooper had pondered a s witch into GT racing or Radicals for this year but stays in FF1600 due to budget.
