JC RACETEKNIK AND EKS MERGE TO BECOME EKS JC
World RX title winner strengthens partnership with Mattias Ekstrom’s squad
Defending World Rallycross teams’ champion JC Raceteknik and 2016 winner EKS have aligned to work together moving forward as EKS JC while confirming another World RX assault this year.
Running under the KYB Team JC banner in 2020, JC Raceteknik claimed that teams title using EKS-built Audi S1s with EKS owner Mattias Ekstrom behind the wheel of one of the cars.
Now, the Joel Christoffersson and Ekstrom-owned concerned will combine resources to focus on more World RX success and on other new projects that will begin with Ekstrom’s entry into Arctic Rally Finland this weekend in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo.
“From now on Joel will take care of all the EKS and JC Raceteknik joint racing projects – rallycross, rally, crosskarts and anything else we come up with,” said Ekstrom. “We are also looking into the future of electric racing and sooner than later there will be a race car in our workshop that is purely driven by electricity.”
Ekstrom is unlikely to drive in World RX this year, with his plans centred around driving for the Cupra ABT team in Extreme E. EKS JC will be based out of Christoffersson’s workshops in Kil, near Karlstad, but will still utilise EKS’s base near Avesta too.
“Me and Mattias share the same mindset and attitude for the sport,” said Christoffersson. “This is one of the main reasons why our cooperation has been so successful so far and that has become a solid foundation for joining forces for the future. For 2021 we want to focus on World RX and we want to win not only the teams’ title, but a drivers’ title as well. We are also looking into more projects to expand our operation in multiple disciplines.”
