BRITISH RALLYCROSS VETERAN HILL BACK AGAIN IN 2021

-

British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy frontrunner Steve Hill will contest a full campaign in the 2021 series with his Mitsubishi Lancer E10.

The 70-year-old, who made his debut in an E10 in 2010, was a podium finisher in 2019 with the car and, following upgrades, had high hopes for last season. But with the condensed calendar meaning the series ran over just two weekends and some incidents and technical problems for squad hampering its efforts Hill didn’t feature on the podium in 2020. He’s hoping to hit the ground running this year.

He said: “We made some good steps forward with the car last year, the changes we made to the set of both transmission and rear geometry were a success in helping us find more pace, but because we had a couple of unrelated problems in such a short season, we never really got into a rhythm.

“The level in Supercar now cannot be underestimated. Just qualifying for the final isn’t a given with the strength of the field, and there are more competitors on the way too. We’re going to keep our heads down, keep pushing hard and hopefully that can be rewarded by some visits to the podium.”

Hill added that he had his fingers crossed that the calendar could return to normal in 2012. “Like all sports we really need to get going when it’s possible to do so, so we can give a return to our partners and the fans, and of course do what we love doing, which is to compete,” he said.
