-

Castle Combe Formula Ford was at its brilliant best on Easter Monday, a 22-car field producing superlative racing. Oli White in a Medina won both races, despite a close shave in the opener when Felix Fisher shot across his bows into Quarry’s barriers.

Poleman Fisher’s Ray had jinked right to avoid the gyrating

Van Diemen of Ben Mitchell, who was eased onto the grass cresting Avon Rise. Alex Walker’s Spectrum finished third behind defending champion Luke Cooper’s Swift.

With Fisher sidelined for race two, Cooper, White, Mitchell and Walker circulated as one. Cooper repelled Mitchell for another silver behind White.

Alex Kite in an Audi TT and Simon Thornton-Norris in a Mitsubishi Colt won the Saloon bouts amid frenetic turbocharged tussling. Neil Greenland led a troubled Thornton-Norris in the opener after Kite tagged Kevin Bird’s Nissan into a spin at Bobbies, but Kite struck back to win. Gary Prebble’s mighty Seat Leon was stopped by a broken rear wheel in race one then broke a front driveshaft, leaving Thornton-Norris’s rejuvenated Colt to top race two from Kite.

Oliver Bull in Jeremy Irwin’s re-braked Vauxhall Tigra Silhouette won the opening GT race but finished seventh in race two after pitting to rake grass from its intakes following an excursion. Chris Everill’s gruff Ginetta G55, missing from race one with a broken driveshaft, won. Jordan Curnow and Chris Southcott won busy Hot Hatch races, Curnow charging to third behind Tim Adams after a racetwo spin.
