World Sport Prototype Group C2 champion Nick – conquered strong opposition and rampaging winds to score his first race win in Castle Combe’s Hot Hatch series on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Honda Civic driver completed a 3-2-1 sequence as Easter Monday’s victors Jordan Curnow and Chris Southcott retired.

Saloon king Gary Prebble’s 550bhp Seat Leon Cupra turbo was only sixth into Quarry after another faltering getaway, but he rounded younger brother Adam’s Vauxhall Astra turbo in the spray at Camp to seize the initiative and win. The Audi TTs of Alex Kite and Tony Hutchings led the chase.

Oliver White extended his unbeaten FF1600 run to three races this term, leaving polesitter Felix Fisher (Ray GR05) scrabbling for grip at the start. Fisher jostled back to second ahead of Nathan Ward, whose pristine 1992 Swift’s mirrors were filled with double champions Luke Cooper (Swift SC18) and Adam Higgins (Firman RF21).

Reigning GT champion Tony Bennett (Caterham R300) shot ahead of poleman Ollie Bull, who quickly re-established the status quo. Intrepid Ulsterman Alan Hamilton (WestfieldDuratec) wrestled third from Dominic Shepherd in his

Nissan V6-engined tubeframe Audi clone.

The M3s that headed the 750MC’s BMWCC field were spectacular. Brad Sheehan aced the dry opener, repelling Niall Bradley, but motorcycle racing returnee Lee Piercey trumped them in the monsoon.

Past master Ben Short looked like a pro among amateurs as he dominated the Mazda MX-5 triple-banger, including its soggy finale from eighth on the partiallyMike reversed grid. Michael Comber was his most consistent rival, defending double champion Ben Hancy having fallen from second to eighth in the wet.

Dan Ludlow and Stuart Emmett were overjoyed to win the annual

Dave Allan Trophy race in their Synchro Motorsport Honda Civic Type R, early leader Will Powell having spun Dave Scaramanga’s Seat Cupra TCR at Camp. Behind them, Gary Franks (Mini Cooper S R53) finished third.
