NEAR PERFECT OUTING FOR RETURNEE BRICKNELL LANDS THE OVERALL GLORY ON CUMBRIAN HILLS

-

In only his second event returning to motorsport Thomas Bricknell proved why he’s a double British champion to win the Jiggers Jug Sporting Trial, dropping just two points.

Conditions varied wildly with torrential rain before the start and later sunshine not altering the sections much. Local trickling expert Mike Salton proved to be Bricknell’s main challenger all day to finish just three points back and a single mark ahead of Irishman David Webster.

Martin Grimwood had a brilliant day to finish in fourth place, with ‘Tiger’

Bill Rhodes consistent in fifth and Bryan Walker sixth after a very costly nine on the first round. Richard Sharp was left scratching his head on the same section dropping a 10, half his total score for the day, managing to recover to seventh overall, with George Watson eighth.

Darren Underwood, in ninth place overall, won the intermediate independent class in from John Cole, andAndrew Woodhead completed the top 10 overall and best live-axle class car. Sam Beare made the long journey from Sussex to win the intermediate live-axle class just behind the best Rookie Ian BleaseDudley both driving similar Sherpas.
