LITTLES GO LARGE WITH A TRICK C1 STRATEGY
OCTOBER 23
The father-and-son pairing of James and Jake Little took the victory spoils in the fourhour C1 Challenge for emaxmotorsport at Oulton Park.
They used a strategy of early pitstops and refuelling, which meant they dropped back to
39th place, before mounting a comeback.
Pembrey winner Julian Daniel held second going into the final half hour but was caught and passed by Quattro Formaggio’s Chris Parkes.
However Gary Prebble’s Silverlake car had also caught them both, and after taking third from Daniel, he got Parkes too as the battle pack rounded Cascades for the 71st and last time.
Team Davies’John Davies and former British Touring
Car Championship racer
Patrick Watts’Ladybird car completed the top six.
Paul Rose took two wins in his Saker in the CNC Heads Sports Saloons encounters. He headed Jon Woolfitt’s Spire from Island on lap one, leaving his rival to battle it out with Steve Harris’s Saker and Luke Armiger’s Vauxhall Tigra.
Woolfitt briefly dropped back with gear selection problems, while his brother Paul retired with a broken exhaust. The red flags then came out after secondplaced Harris tripped over a backmarker at Druids, so Armiger was declared second, from Jon Woolfitt and Paul
Dobson’s Locost Mazda.
With Rose starting at the back for race two, Jon Woolfitt had the lead until Clay Hill on lap six when Rose prevailed. Woolfitt managed to retain second from Andy Bicknell’s Ginetta G50 and Mark Primett’s Banks Europa.
Sixth and his second class win of the day was enough for Ginetta driver Jamie Cryer to be crowned 2021 champion for the second successive year.
Having led the first Kumho BMW race comfortably, James Card’s E46 M3 was eventually caught and passed by Jason West’s similar car with a lap to go. The pair exited Lodge as one for the final time and Card came out on top in the dash for the line, with Brad Sheehan a close third.
Card was in charge throughout the second race with Sheehan and West sharing the podium.
With over five seconds in hand in the lead on lap one of the first Tiedeman Trophy race, Ben Powney’s Jedi took a comfortable victory. He took the flag 19 seconds clear of Nikita Abramov’s Jedi. Both Abramov and Lee Fern’s Dallara had ousted Bryn Tootell’s Van Diemen on the third lap, but all held station for the remaining distance.
The second race was restarted after Tootell and Malcolm Scott (Dallara) collided at Old Hall. It was a comfortable win for Abramov over Terry Clark’s Van Diemen and Steve
Collier (Dallara).
