JONATHAN JACKSON TAKES PRIME RALLY ROLE AT MOTORSPORT UK

-

Leading co-driver Jonathan Jackson has been appointed to one of the most significant roles in UK rallying.

Jackson, 33, will take on the role of head of rallies and cross country at Motorsport UK at the end of February. Jackson’s appointment was announced three days after he partnered Meirion Evans to victory on the opening round of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in their VW Polo GTI R5.

As well as being a leading co-driver, having contested up to 20 rallies a year since he started in 2010, Jackson is also a trainee clerk of the course and has worked with Formula 1000 and on the BTRDA rallies committee. As a lifelong member of North Wales Car Club, he is part of the organising team for the Cambrian Rally.

Jackson will join Motorsport UK reporting to John Ryan, safety and sporting director, and will be Motorsport UK’s prime representative in relation to all rally and cross-country matters, focusing on the strategic direction of rallying to secure its long-term sustainability.

Jackson said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Motorsport UK. As someone who has been a passionate, lifelong fan of the sport, it’s a great honour to have been selected for this position. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to experience a number of great things during my time in the sport so far, both in and out of the car. We have a fantastic discipline full of some of the most enthusiastic and most knowledgeable people. I’ve no doubt there’s a lot to be done and many challenges lie ahead, but I can’t wait to get started.”
