RECORD ENTRY FOR 50TH ANNIVERSARY RALLYNUTS SEVERN VALLEY STAGES
Competitors flock to mid-Wales event and respond to extra mileage for 2024
The organisers of the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages have been overwhelmed with entries and have now taken 210 applications for 170 spaces on the April 13 rally.
It is thought to be the biggest entry for a one-day forest rally for many years. The rally is a round of the British, British Historic, BTRDA and Welsh championships and is the only rally this year to include all four of these major championships.
As well as the range of championships, a key factor in the size of entry is that in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the event the organisers are offering 62 stage miles at the entry fee that would normally apply for a 45-mile event.
Competitors have voted with their feet and supported the event in unprecedented numbers for the chance to tackle classic stages in the Myherin and Hafren complexes of Mid-Wales.
Event entries secretary Dave Lancaster from the
Midland Manor Motor Club told MN: “The response for the extra mileage we’re giving has been fantastic. We wanted to do it to mark our 50th anniversary and a major motive was to reward our loyal customers who have supported us over the years. I’m pleased to say that a great many of them have entered, notably within the BTRDA and Welsh championships.”
While the BRC visits the Builth Wells event for the first time, the BHRC makes a return to a rally that was formerly a regular date on the championship calendar. To further mark the 50th anniversary, the event will also revisit its heritage with a ceremonial start in Llandrindod Wells and use of the famous Metropole Hotel.
