Double celebration for ex-Burgh boss

-

FORMER Musselburgh Athletic manager John McGlynn has been enjoying a double celebration.

The 62-year-old, who also played for his hometown club, guided Falkirk to the Scottish League One title and was named PFA Scotland Manager of the Year. Remarkably, the Bairns went through the entire league campaign unbeaten and picked up 27 wins from their 36 league games.

On Saturday, they came from 2-0 down to clinch a draw with Alloa Athletic to ensure that they finished with 90 points.

McGlynn then defeated Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes and Dundee boss Tony Docherty to be crowned PFA Scotland Manager of the Year.

Already, McGlynn has made his first signing of the close season and it has an

East Lothian feel to it.

Former Musselburgh Athletic midfielder Michael McKenna has swapped Arbroath for Falkirk.

He joins Liam Henderson, Coll Donaldson and Sean Mackie, who all have East Lothian connections, at The Falkirk Stadium.

Speaking to the club website, McGlynn said: “He’s an attacking midfield player who can play in a number of positions, even as a striker, which is an advantage.

“He’s a very good footballer, he’s a great character who’ll blend into the changing room very well, and he knows a number of players who are here already.

“He brings experience but still has a number of good years ahead of him.

“He’s a great addition to what we have already and we look forward to working with him.”
