SUPER My Weekly DIET Club
Since launching her best-selling Hip And Thigh Diet 30 years ago Rosemary Conley has become a UK diet and fitness guru. Hallmarks of her slimming club and books are the flexibility of food choices so everyone can suit their plans to their individual lifestyles.
Rosemary puts a strong emphasis on being active to improve fitness, and bring about metabolic changes.
Traditional format plans start with a 14-day low-fat 1200-calorie diet, but offer choices of carbohydrate-based, high-protein or vegetarian options for breakfast, lunch and dinner to which you add five portions of fruit and veg a day, plus a multivitamin and mineral tablet.
Different daily fitness challenges include 30 minutes aerobic exercise by brisk walking, an exercise class or DVD workout. As the plan progresses resistance exercises such as squats and abs are added.
Alternative plans include the 3-2-1: 800 calories for three days in week one, two days in week two, one day in week three, plus daily exercise; repeated until you reach your weight goal. There’s also a Complete Lifestyle Change 12-week programme and a 28-Day Lean and Clean Plan – all details at www.rosemaryconley.com
The programmes can be done through Rosemary’s slimming groups with a leader and meetings, or online with support and advice from “real life” coaches.
Our slimmer of the month Stephney Hornblow (see right) chose online “which included a weekly online weigh-in with an advisor. I also monitored BMI and logged exercise on the site which was really helpful. My online counsellor was fantastic when I got stuck with the diet.”
