◆ White Felt Sheet

◆ Black embroidery thread

◆ Sewing needle

◆ Scissors

1To make the hexagon fabric stamp: CARFEFULLY cut around the outline of the hexagon template provided into the potato (A) Leave the potato to dr y out for at least 20 minutes.

2While potato is dr ying, fold the fabric to create two equal sized triangles, cut out the triangles.

Iron pieces.

3Pour some fabric paint onto a flat, even sur face. Leaving a 2cm border around the edge of the fabric, begin stamping the hexagon stamp onto the right side of one piece of fabric. Star t from the bottom corner and make your way up. Ensure the stamp is coated evenly and lightly with the fabric paint other wise you may get large splodges of paint on your scarf! Repeat this process in a honeycomb pattern until you’re happy. Do the same to the other piece of fabric. Leave to dr y. (B)

4To make the bee appliques: Cut two pom poms of f the trim, including the two bits of string attaching it to the trim as these will act as the bees’ antennae. Cut 4 ver y small teardrop shapes out of the white felt, these will be the wings. Using the black embroider y thread, sew up through the bottom of the pom pom, through one of the felt pieces, then through the side of the pom pom, into the opposite side, up and through the second felt wing and back down the middle again (C) Repeat this, without the felt wings to add a second stripe to the bee. Make two.

5Place the bee wherever you like on the fabric and sew it into place. Embroider a few simple lines behind the bee to create the movement line. Do the same to the other piece of fabric.

6With the wrong side of the fabric facing you, pin a 1cm hem all around both triangles. Sew around the hem. Take out your pins and place trim along the smaller edges, between both pieces of fabric, right side facing out. Sew all pieces together. Your scar f is ready!

Once you’re confident with your stamp cutting skills, try playing around with different patterns and create more beautiful scarves or, alternatively, cushion covers and canvas tote bags!
