Welcome to my new consumer column! This month I’m testing T-shirts that won’t shrink in the wash, tough and durable paint and, in motoring news, why you can currently get six months’ grace on your MOT…

Pick The Right Paint When it comes to DIY, I love a spot of painting, but made a mistake with the paint for our downstairs loo. I bought Dulux Matt Emulsion paint, but several months on I’m struggling to get rid of splash marks on the wall by the sink.

I tracked down the same colour in the Dulux Easycare Washable & Tough range and while it’s a touch more expensive it’s great stuff. Marks and splashes just wipe away and it’s so much easier to keep the place sparkling clean!

Digitise Your Slides

I’m busy turning my mum and dad’s slide collection digital so my mum can enjoy watching our family snaps on the TV. I spent ages hunting for the kit to do this. You can pay hundreds of pounds, but I bought a Kenro Film Scanner for just under £100 from SRS www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk.

It converts slides and negatives to digital images and it’s small, easy to use and doing an amazing job with our family memories.

Happy Customer

I’m a big T-shir t fan and always collect them on my travels. I discovered the fabulous Saltrock designs in Devon and now have several to my name.

They’ve been designed in Devon since 1988 when the business star ted out with two brothers and a home-made printing screen doing business from the back of their car. They’re great designs and great value, with prices from £5 in their regular sales up to around £15 full price. They wash up beautifully and go the distance. www.saltrock.com
