WHEN ELIZABETH WAS A PRINCESS

There was no shor tage of potential husbands when Elizabeth was a princess. Yes, of course, as heir to the throne she was a good catch for any of the single royals dotted around Europe. But there was more to it than that. Princess Elizabeth was not just a royal, not just a great horsewoman, swimmer, truck driver and mechanic. She was also ver y beautiful. Elizabeth blossomed into a lovely young lady and it would have to be someone ver y special to capture her hear t. Elizabeth only had eyes for one person from her early teen years and of course, they married and became the per fect royal couple. That was back in November 1947 and today the fair ytale princess and her prince charming are still happily married. It is a wish that came true because on the day of her wedding, Her Majesty simply said, “I ask nothing more than that Philip and I can be as happy as my father and mother have been and their father and mother – King George and Queen Mar y – before them.”
