UNDER 55? BEWARE OF PREGNANCY
If you’re under 55 you may still need contraception to prevent pregnancy as well as STIs. If you go through the menopause (and have not had a period for a year) under the age of 50, you’ll need to use contraception for a further 2 years; if you go through the menopause after 50, you’ll need to use it for a further year. After 55, risk of pregnancy is considered so low that contraception, apart from to protect against STIs, is not required.
