Andie MacDowell (Carrie)

Now 62, she has mainly worked on American TV since playing Charles’ love interest. Last year she made a guest appearance in the BBC Three sitcom Cuckoo. Twice divorced with three children, she lives in California.

Kristen Scott Thomas (Fiona)

After playing Charles’ lovesick flatmate, she was acclaimed for her roles in The English Patient and The Horse Whisperer. Now 59, she is divorced with three children and lives in France.

Simon Callow (Gareth)

Now 70, Simon still works in theatre and TV. One of the first openly gay actors in Britain, he married his partner Sebastian in 2016.

James Fleet (Tom)

After making his name as bumbling Tom, James, 68, went on to star as kindly but dim-witted Hugo Hor ton in

The Vicar of Dibley. Married with one son, he still works on TV.

John Hannah (Matthew)

The film catapulted John into the big time with a host of TV roles from Rebus and New Street Law to Spar tacus. The 58 year-old lives in London with his wife and two children.

Charlotte Coleman (Scarlett)

Child star Charlotte previously enjoyed success as Sue in ITV’s Worzel Gummidge. She tragically died in 2001, aged just 33, after suffering a severe asthma attack.

Anna Chancellor (Duckface)

Anna, 55, starred in Kavanagh QC and was BAFTA-nominated for her role in the thriller The Hour. Married, she lives in London and has a grown-up daughter.
