I’ve been missing café cappuccinos so I’ve been testing “instant mix” versions from the supermarket, as well as saving my vacuum cleaner from pet hair tangles…

Starbucks Cappuccino Premium Instant Starbucks is my favourite cof fee chain so I was looking for ward to its Cappuccino of fering.

But in a word: disappointing. Bubbly not frothy and while I never take sugar in cof fee, I felt I needed a spoon of the stuf f with this as had a slightly bitter taste, even though it lists sugar in the ingredients.

And we’re talking small cup size, not mug. My breakfast mug’s quite small, but the recommended 180ml of water only came up half way. Pack of 5 sachets for £2.69.

Kenco Duo Cappuccino Comes in a two-layer pod with milk powder on top and espresso below. Pour just boiled water on the milk mix and you get a crackling noise as it froths up and to the top of my mug too! Add water to the espresso part, pour in, swirl and makes a cappuccino I’d be happy to drink in any café. A bit too sweet if I’m being picky. But my verdict? A pretty good café cappuccino in a pod! 6 pods for £3.

Nescafe Gold Cappuccino Cappuccino number two from Nescafe was so much frothier than the Starbucks version and makes for a slightly bigger cup too. No bitter taste here; yes, it’s got added sugar in the mix, but no sickly-sweet taste. Just the right kick of caf feine to get me going in the morning and definitely beats some café cappuccinos I’ve had. 8 sachets for £1.69.
