D and Antique (921) F and 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) balls in Pigeon (950) H; pair of 4.5 mm

TENSION

14 sts and 20 rows to 10 cm measured over st-st using 2 strands of Kidsilk Haze and 1 strand of Fine Lace together and 6.5 mm needles.

With 4.5 mm needles and using 2 strands of A and 1 of B together, cast on on

1st row (right side) – [K1, P1] to end.

Rep last row until work measures 6 cm, ending after a right-side row.

Next row – *P1, P2tog, rep from * to last stitch, P1 – 91 (99, 107, 115, 123) sts. Change to 6.5 mm needles.

Next row (right side) – Knit.

Next row – *P5, P2tog, rep from * until 0 (8, 16, 10, 4) sts rem, P 0 (8, 16, 10, 4) sts – 78 (86, 94, 100, 106) sts.

Beg with a knit row, work in st-st until work measures 10 (11, 12, 13, 14) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrong-side row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn C and 1 of D and cont until work measures 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn E and 1 of F and cont until work measures 30 (31, 32, 33, 34) cm from cast-on edge, ending with a wrongside row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn

G and 1 of H and cont until work measures 59 (60, 61, 62, 63) cm from cast on edge, cast-on edge, ending with a wrong-side row. Shape shoulders and back neck – Cast of f 14 (16, 17, 18, 19) sts at beg of foll 4 rows – 22 (22, 26, 28, 30) sts. Cast of f.

LEFT FRONT

Note: when working on the front pieces add new yarn on the side seams when needed. Slip the first st of ever y wrong-side row.

With 4.5 mm needles and using 2 strands of A and 1 of B together, cast on 68 (74, 80, 86, 92) sts.

1st row (right side) – [K1, P1] to end.

Rep last row until work measures 6 cm, ending after a right-side row.

Next row – [P1, K1] twice, P1, *P1, P2tog rep from * to end – 47 (51, 55, 59,

63) sts.

Change to 6.5 mm needles.

1st row (right side) – Knit until 6 sts rem, [P1, K1] 3 times.

2nd row – [P1, K1] three times, purl to end. **Keeping pattern correct with 6 sts on rib, rep last 2 rows until work measures 10 (11, 12, 13, 14) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrong-side row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn C and 1 of D and cont until work measures 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn E and 1 of F and cont until work measures 30 (31, 32, 33, 34) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row **. Change to 2 strands of yarn G and 1 of H. Shape neck –

Next row (right side) – Knit until 9 sts rem, skpo, K1, [P1, K1] three times –

46 (50, 54, 58, 62) sts. Working dec sts as set above, dec 1 st on ever y foll 4th row until there are 33 (37, 39, 41, 43) sts.

Cont straight until front matches length of back to star t of shoulder shaping, ending after a wrong-side row (right front end after a right-side row).

Shape shoulders – Keeping rib pattern correct cast off 14 (16, 17, 18, 19) sts at beg of next and foll alt row – 5 sts.

Leave rem sts on a stitchhold­er, do not break off yarn.

RIGHT FRONT

Note: when working on the front pieces add new yarn on the side seams when needed. Slip the first st of ever y right-side row.

With 4.5 mm needles and using 2 strands of A and 1 of B together, cast on

68 (74, 80, 86, 92) sts.

1st row (right side) – [K1, P1] to end. Rep last row until work measures 6 cm, ending after a right-side row.

Next row – *P1, P2tog rep from * until 5 sts rem, P1, [K1, P1] twice – 47 (51, 55, 59, 63) sts.

Change to 6.5 mm needles.

1st row (right side) – [K1, P1] three times, knit to end.

2nd row – Purl until 6 sts rem, [P1, K1] 3 times.

Work as given for left front from ** to ** and making colour changes at the end of

right-side rows. Change to 2 strands of yarn G and 1 of H and work one row.

Shape neck –

Next row (right side) – [K1, P1] three times, K1, K2tog, knit to end – 46 (50, 54, 58, 62) sts.

Working dec as set above, dec 1 st on ever y foll 4th row until there are 33 (37, 39, 41, 43) sts.

Cont straight until front matches length of back to star t of shoulder shaping, ending after a right-side row. Shape shoulders – Keeping rib pattern correct cast off 14 (16, 17, 18, 19) sts at beg of next and foll alt row – 5 sts.

Leave rem sts on a stitchhold­er, do not break off yarn.

SLEEVES

With 4.5 mm needles and using 2 strands of A and 1 of B together, cast on

48 (50, 52, 56, 58) sts.

1st row (right side) – [K1, P1] to end.

Rep last row until work measures 6 cm, ending after a wrong-side row and inc

8 (8, 10, 8, 8) sts evenly across the row – 56 (58, 62, 64, 66) sts.

Change to 6.5 mm needles. Change to 2 strands of G and 1 of H and beg with a knit row, work in st-st until work measures 16 (17, 18, 19, 20) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn A and 1 of B and cont until work measures 22.5 (23.5, 24.5, 25.5, 26.5) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrong-side row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn C and 1 of D and cont until until work measures 29 (30, 31, 32, 33) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn E and 1 of F and cont until until work measures 35.5 (36.5, 37.5, 38.5, 39.5) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrong-side row.

Change to 2 strands of yarn G and 1 of H and cont until work measures 46 (47, 48, 49, 50) cm from cast-on edge, ending after a wrongside row. Cast off.

TO COMPLETE

Lay out each piece to size stated and cover with damp cloths. Leave to dr y. Press according to instructio­ns on ball-band, omitting ribbing.

Neckband – Join shoulder seams with mattress stitch. With 6.5 mm needes and 2 strands of yarn G and

1 of H, work in rib across 5 sts from left front holder until work reaches half way round back of neck. Cast of f. Work other side to match.

To Make Up – Join cast-of f edges together and sew to back neck. Measure 20 (21, 22, 23, 24) cm down from shoulder seam and sew sleeves in place. Join sleeve seams then side seams using mattress stitch.
