FROM PAIN TO POSITIVITY

-

Nargis Hussain from St Albans, Her tfordshire went through ever y parent’s nightmare when her son Ayaan, who suf fered from ulcerative colitis, tragically died on June 27, 2020, aged just 13. Her Muslim faith has helped her and her family and inspires them to fundraise, helping others in Ayaan’s name.

“When Ayaan was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis it was a shock, but my husband Jamal and I never thought we’d lose our son. It was a ver y challenging time and Ayaan was incredibly brave. He relapsed and he suffered a major brain haemorrhage, which he never recovered from, leaving ever yone in complete shock.

“Sahar, his sister, was absolutely devastated and misses him so much. She looks after us and watches football with Jamal because he misses watching football with Ayaan. We’ve found a lot of comfor t in our faith and charitable acts, no matter how small or large, and we’ve started a trust in Ayaan’s name, ayaanjamiamasjid.com/, Insta handle ayaanjm.trust

“The comfor t we have found while experiencing the loss of our son was the comfor t of Allah’s (God’s) words. Learning how to be patient after losing Ayaan has been the hardest and toughest lesson for us. But once you learn the importance of patience, you star t to have complete trust that God will make ever ything OK and you remind yourself that this world is temporar y. It’s not the end and there is indeed a reunion in the Hereafter. Our beautiful family will be reunited with Ayaan one day.

“Our faith is a religion of hope and it is this hope that keeps us going and allows us to continue to do what we do ever y day with Ayaan beside us.

“Ayaan would always give to charity from bir thday and Eid money and had strong faith from a ver y young age. He would ask about heaven and worried about losing us. Now he doesn’t have to worry as we will come to him.

“He was ready for heaven and we know we’ll see him again. He’s being looked after by God until he can enter heaven with his parents – this is guaranteed to us and it’s what we turn to when the pain of losing him is at its worst. My hear t broke for him when he brushed off his pain and smiled, and I’m always so proud of him and the legacy he has left for his little sister, Sahar.”
