My Niece Will Be All Alone In The World

-

Two years ago, my younger sister had a much longed-for baby, Verity, via IVF at the age of 49. Her husband is 60, the same age as me, and the three of us are Verity’s only close relatives. A friend recently made a very pointed remark about our ages and asked what would happen if we all died before Verity reached adulthood. I just can’t get this idea out of my head now. I wake up in the middle of the night imagining Verity all alone in the world in her teens. It’s spoiling my time with my precious niece. n None of us know when we are going to die – but statistics tell us that most of us will live longer lives than our parents dreamed of. in any case you have little control over this. your responsibility is to live healthily with plenty of exercise. However, your longevity is not the only concern. What is much more important to your much-loved niece is how you are now. All Verity is aware of is how you interact as a threesome towards her. Giving her your precious time and love will always be remembered. this will give her the basis for her own life and how she interacts with other people. Worrying about the things we cannot control will only harm you, and it is important to work on your state of mind so you can become rational and accepting. For peace of mind, you could seek counselling. But the consequence of having a child at an older age is that you simply have to face these matters with a good heart. your love and care will ensure that, if something happens to any one of you, her memories will always remain. Enjoy every day; do not worry about a future you cannot change.
