Tricia Cusden set up her beauty brand LOOK FABULOUSFOREVER.COM three years ago after growing frustrated with the lack of beauty products for mature skin. “In a society where the ideals of beauty are almost exclusively represented through images of younger women with ‘anti-ageing’ products, it can be hard for older women to accept the natural ageing process and also to find realistic role models to feel inspired by,” she says. “Here’s my mantra for what helps me feel fabulous!”
FABULOUSNESS IS A STATE OF MIND
“There is an assumption that with increasing age comes an increasing right to be miserable! This assumption fills me with despair so I try to adopt a positive attitude in life in order to make me feel fabulous. I try to keep my mind active as much as possible; by learning new things, keeping up to date with current trends, ideas and technology and this all makes me feel more openminded and positive in life which in turn radiates fabulousness!”
EAT YOURSELF TO GOOD HEALTH
“I’m a firm believer that you are what you eat. It’s so important to nourish yourself with the right foods in order to give you all the necessary vitamins and minerals to help maintain a healthy-looking glow. Always avoid processed foods high in sugar, fat and salt. Salt retention will make the under-eye area swell giving an appearance of bags under the eyes and in turn making you look older and tired.”
UNDERSTAND YOUR COLOURING
“In theory we should all be able to wear whatever colour make-up we want, but in practice it helps enormously to know whether the undertone of your skin is blue or yellow. Why? Because if you wear the colours that work best with your skin tone, both in make-up and what you wear near your face, you will instantly look brighter, healthier and more ‘glowing’. DON’T “LET IT GO”
“I don’t believe that when you get older, you should ‘let it all go’. Stylistically it is possible to age with flair without looking either boring, boho or bonkers! Keep up to date with fashion, avoid deadening colours like beige and embrace statement jewellery.”
