The talented Ms Garraway is a TV presenter, radio DJ, the real “Bridget Jones” – and now also fashion designer!
◆ I have always wanted to have a clothing range. After I went looking for little boys’ clothes when my son Billy was born seven years ago, I became really interested in doing my own clothing range and went quite a long way down the road with it but then other things came along, career-wise, so it went on a back burner. I have worked with the charity I Can for a number of years, and so when they said they had an opportunity for a clothing line and that they’d love me to do it, I said, “Actually, I have a whole load of sketches of girls’ and boys’ clothes ready to go!” ◆ I find my time working with I Can really, really moving. The charity works with children who have speech and language difficulties. I have been very lucky that I have always been able to speak – some would say too much! But for some reason, the ability to communicate doesn’t happen for about a million kids in the UK and of course thatth t thenth spiralsi l it into more challenges in terms of learning to read, to write and to just have a connected life with the world around them. ◆ I have learned so much from the experts at M&Co, which is where the Kite and Cosmic range is sold. They are a great team and it has been fascinating to learn about fabrics and how a piece of clothing is developed from sketch, to mood board, to sample. I worked with M&Co to create a collection that is fun, exciting and fashionable, using fabrics that are soft yet durable, which is important to me as a mum. I wanted the range to include smart yet relaxed pieces for the boys and cute, casual pieces for the girls.
