LIST LOVERS

-

Christmas is the time when people who love lists really come into their own – and they are the foundation of a wellorganised festive season. Superorganised people even have a master list with all their other lists on it!

You’ll need a present list, naturally, and while you’re listing friends and relatives you want to buy for, jot down gift ideas beside their names.

You probably already have a Christmas card list, but this is the ideal time to check it’s up to date. People send fewer cards nowadays so ask yourself if any of the people on yours would be just as happy with an e-greeting. A general greeting to your workplace and a donation to c charity might b be more a appropriate t than a card to every single colleague.

Planning your festive menus now will save headscratching later. A two-week calendar starting a few days before Christmas and running through to New Year takes all the pressure off. Make detailed menus for days you’ll be entertaining and cross off any where you’ll be eating out.

Now make a list of everything you’ll need, including your normal shopping, then divide it into items that have to be bought fresh near the time and those you can buy in advance. Remember to include soft drinks and any alcohol you’re splashing out on. A secure garage or shed is a good place to store soft drinks. It keeps them cold and removes the temptation for everyone in your house to indulge too early.

Do something today that tomorrow you’ll be glad you did!
