With Corrie’s Eileen set to wed evil Phelan, how unlucky-in-love is she?
Poor Eileen, the course of true love has never been easy. Played by Sue Cleaver who landed on the street as a single mum 16 years ago, will Eileen find herself lucky in love at long last?
Eileen’s life has always been centralised around her flagging relationships, starting with her relationship with biker Dennis Stringer which promptly ended when he fell in love with Janice Battersby – of all people!
Then in 2007, Eileen found herself one of many women when she embarked on what she assumed was an affair with a married man, but actually Pat Stanaway was just a serial dater who had seven ladies on the go!
Gail Platt has always been Eileen’s nemesis and their fondness for the same men has caused many arguments over the years. First came reflexologist, Phil Nail, who started working at the medical centre – but sadly, he liked Gail.
Hilariously, one of Eileen’s most promising loves was found while her head was stuck in a railing, meeting Paul Kershaw, the hunky fireman who set her free. This relationship was the one we thought was for keeps. At first we discovered that Paul had a wife, but she suffered terribly with Alzheimer’s – and Eileen was his escape.
She supported him through her death and eventually the pair were engaged. Losing a work colleague in a fire changed Paul though and he was never the same again, his downward spiral ending in the pair splitting.
Then 2015 saw a move into online dating for Eileen, where she met Adrian Mortimer. But thanks to her son Todd’s meddling she lost him through preferring “fake” date, Jeff from Dubai.
Then came Michael. Eileen loved Michael but soon they too split, with Michael unable to move on from previous love, Gail.
So here we are now… she has Phelan. The con man has been swindled himself now and left with nothing but Eileen, so will he make it to the aisle and marry her? Tune in this week to find out…
