Top tips for an easier life!

Healthy Mix

Artificial flowers are lovely, but certain real (usually green) plants indoors help to keep you healthy. A good one is the English Ivy which helps remove formaldehyde. So, like me, why not combine the two? Others include the peace lily, and some palms. Mrs E Wantling, Surrey

Cheap Trick

Instead of cling film to wrap food, try using the small clear bags the supermarkets use for fruit and veg. It not only saves money, but is environmentally friendly by giving the bags a second use. Mrs C Darlow, Sheffield

Cool It!

Run your grater under cold water before grating lemon peel and it will be much easier. Miss A Cairns, Essex

Plant Labels

No need to buy packs of labels for your plants and seeds. We all have plastic pots around the house – just cut the pots into strips and add pointed ends. Hey Presto! Mrs Pat Lowe, Hampshire

Bag Clip

To keep your bag safe when in the supermarket, have a dog lead clip permanently attached to your handbag – you can easily secure it to the trolley while you shop. Mrs Valerie Beard, Worcs

Make Thread Last

After sewing buttons onto your knitting, paint the thread with colourless nail polish and they will stay on longer. Miss Linda Keen, Sheffield
