The inflammatory bowel diseases Crohns and ulcerative colitis affect about 300,000 people in the UK – causing pain, fevers, weight loss and serious digestive problems. New research has identified 25 new connections between our genes and our chance of getting it. This could lead to new targeted treatments – more effective but with fewer side effects.
