✦ “After a couple of months of bad luck including some very large unexpected bills, I was thrilled to win £70 on the lottery – not a fortune, I know, but it cheered me up no end. My wife and I bought a few treats and had lunch in a nice restaurant. On returning to our car, I was dismayed to find I had outstayed my time by just six minutes, resulting in a ticket. The fine was £70!” Tony
✦ “I so agree with Colleen’s rant (No 5362) regarding ‘fat cat’ salaries and charity shops. As the items are donated there should only be a nominal price. The volunteers who give their time and are always pleasant receive no such pay.
“We were discussing exactly the same thing a few days before I saw the letter in My Weekly. I am pleased that others feel the same as all money except the shop rental and overheads such as electricity should therefore go to the charity that the shop supposedly supports.” Kenneth
