“I had to comment on Jane Corry’s recent serial (part 2, No5376). The first doodlebug arrived in this country on the afternoon of June 13, 1944 (not 1940). It was my 21st birthday and it interrupted my small party. Doodlebugs would never have reached Devon. The Germans wanted to hit London and, as the doodlebugs had a limited flight distance, they were built and launched from North East France.

Most landed in South East London, Croydon, Streatham, etc. I lived in Dulwich and we had five land very close to us. I remember it as if it were yesterday.” Dulcie “Thanks, Dulcie, it’s amazing to hear from someone who has experienced air raids first hand. Jane has used artistic licence in this instance, but we hope you enjoyed the story nonetheless.”
