Getting To Know… Jimmy Osmond

After his MasterChef success, the popular star is heading back to his singing roots for a new tour

◆ My new tour is a tribute to Andy Williams. You just don’t hear this music as much as you used to, but they’re songs everyone knows. I’ll be per forming Moon River, Days of WineandRoses and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You – all the classics. I also show videos of growing up per forming with Andy, and I do our Osmonds hit records too. It’s fun to see audiences go back and remember their lives as they remember those songs – music is so power ful.

◆ I’ve always been a little bit chubby, but I have fun and I enjoy my life. I’m happy being me. I’m not really into exercise. I go in spurts and I need to start doing it, but I’d lie to you if I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’ve got it together.’

◆ Family is everything to me. I got over worrying about myself when my first child was born – thinking about their wellbeing over yours is such a cool thing. Now my kids are pretty grown up – my oldest is 23 and my youngest is turning 16 – but being a dad was everything to me and still is.

◆ Nobody wants me to sing any more, they just want me to cook! It’s since I reached the final of Celebrity MasterChef – it’s a power ful show! Cooking has always been a hobby of mine, but never at that level.

◆ I still sing LongHaired Lover from Liverpool – the number one I had when I was nine! There was a stage where I got tired of singing it, but I learned a long time ago that it’s not about me as a per former, it’s about the audience. So I have fun with it and can laugh at myself.
