Has she continued not drinking? “No, it was a wet February if I am honest!” she replies. “But I am going to avoid drinking unnecessar­ily.” One of the nicest female presenters on television, it’s staggering to think Kate has now been gracing our breakfast sofas for an amazing 21 years – a feat she you see on GoodMornin­g Britain is what life really is like away from the TV set, says Kate. Close to all her fellow presenters, she says they regularly meet up and they will always accompany each other at the big award dos.

“We had a lovely meal for Susanna’s birthday before Christmas,” she reveals. “We are so close and Ben is the nicest man on the planet! I can’t think of a more perfect (on-screen) partner.” So what’s next for Kate? In July, she’s hosting an annual RCNi awards ceremony celebratin­g the country’s amazing nurses. go on DancingonI­ce.

“We went to see Alex on DOI last month and my daughter told the producers she wanted me to be on it,” says Kate, smiling. “She was too young to watch me on Strictly but it’s so hard on the ice. I know I am challengin­g myself every month but let’s see how the year goes before going on DOI…!”
