Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire

-

Follow in the footsteps of the legendar y Robin Hood as you take in Sher wood Forest in all its springtime glor y.

As the spring sunlight streams through the trees, under foot you’ll find yourself walking through a woodland carpeted with wild garlic, primroses, wood anemones and bluebells.

Begin your walk at the Sher wood Forest Visitor Centre, near Edwinstowe, where you’ll find lots of information about the ancient forest.

Whatever path you choose to explore, don’t miss the highlight – the 800-yearold Major Oak. Legend has it that Robin Hood and his band of merr y men slept here!

Conjure up idyllic scenes from Laurie Lee’s Cider With Rosie, with a springtime walk in the picturesque village of Slad and the surrounding countr yside. The Cotswolds are glorious at any time of year but a walk through this stunning area in spring, alive with the sound of birdsong and bursting with spring colours, is particularly beautiful.

Once you’ve explored the local area on foot, make a stop at the famous author’s favourite pub, The Woolpack, in Slad, and raise a glass of cider in his honour to celebrate this beautiful season.
