Hungary's Children's Railway

Wind your way up through the wooded hills around Budapest on the unique Children’s Railway, begun in 1948 to take children to a residential activity camp. Today, the 11km journey is one of the city’s most unusual attractions, staffed by volunteer children aged 10 to 14 who get days off school to sell tickets and generally help out – although not as drivers!
