Have you considered a Showboat dinner cruise with City Cruises? Wine, dine and dance the night away on this unique three-hour river cruise as you sail and take in London’s magical cityscape and famous landmarks as they sparkle against the Thames at night. The dazzle continues onboard with a talented live performer singing pop tunes and crowd-pleasing hits from beloved West End musicals. On arrival, you’ll be treated to a glass of sparkling wine and a licensed bar is fully stocked onboard. WWW.CITYCRUISES.COM CATHEDRALS, BRIDGES AND A CASTLE Prague is a great value city break. I hopped on an easy Jet flight from Stansted for a bargain £60 return and just 90 minutes later touched down at Vaclav Havel airport.

Some of the city’s famous sights include Prague Castle, St Vitus Cathedral and the medieval statue-lined Charles Bridge, but they do all get busy. It’s worth getting up early for the best snaps of the bridge and to avoid queues at the castle.

You can walk up the hill to the castle, but I’d suggest catching the number 22 tram so you can enjoy the view. Entry to the castle grounds and garden is free, but if you want to go inside you’ll need a ticket, and there’s several options.

We went for the B ticket that includes St Vitus Cathedral and the Old Royal Palace and costs 250 CZK (Czech Koruna), around £10. I’d suggest getting there early (grounds open from 6am and buildings from

99am)) as thereh can bbe llong queues ffor St Vitus Cathedral. It’s worth a visit to see its beautiful windows.

Throw away your map if you want to really explore the Old Town, as it’s a labyrinth of winding streets, hidden squares and alleys that reveal stunning buildings, bars, restaurants and shops. Look for landmarks rather than street names to get your bearings and pack flat shoes for those cobbled streets!

You can’t beat seeing Prague ffrom theh rooftops. A trip up the Old Town Hall Tower costs around £10 but we got a romantic view to ourselves from the T-Anker rooftop bar, on top of the Kotvo department store. It’s a locals’ secret, a great spot to enjoy a drink and stunning views.

The Czech Republic is famous for its beers so worth popping by the Prague Beer Museum to sample the local brews. My favourite was the Klaster Svetly which went down rather well at the end of a long day.
