60 isn’t old, says Linda, who has discovered a daredevil tendency she never knew she had
◆ Last year I had a medical and I was told I was at risk of developing diabetes which was a real wake-up call. I had a real lifestyle change and in just over a year I’ve lost over three stone. ◆ Before, I was drinking a bottle of wine a night. Now, I don’t drink any alcohol at all as part of my routine. I drink sparkling water with a slice of lemon… and I still love my cups of tea! ◆ When it comes to food, I love things like salmon, stir-fry and salads. My mum used to make a lovely chopped salad full of beetroot, tomatoes and lettuce with salad cream – delicious! Heinz Salad Cream was on everybody’s table. We still have a bottle of it on our table today. ◆ I’ve got a trampoline in the garden now. It helps keep me in shape and I also count my steps every day. I go to the odd fitness class but not as much as I should do. ◆ I’m more body confident and toned now. I’d sit by the pool in a swimsuit now, which I never did before. I’m generally more confident and I’ve done things I’ve never done before. I did a sky dive earlier this year for my 60th birthday and I swam with sharks with my daughter in Miami. ◆ I don’t think you feel old any more at 60. I certainly don’t. 60 now isn’t what 60 was when my mum was alive. I dress the same as my kids, in trousers and tops. I work with Janet Street-Porter and she looks amazing at 72!
