They may be Royals but they’re just Gran to the kids!

Princess Anne

Having a well-deserved reputation as the hardest working royal, the public is now seeing much more of the other side of the Princess Royal – that of a doting grandmother.

Grandmother to her son Peter Phillips’ girls, Savannah and Isla, Princess Anne also enjoys a close bond with daughter Zara’s little girl Mia, and her newest grandchild Lena, whose birth Zara and husband Mike Tindall announced to the world last month.

Princess Anne and her extended family all live within the grounds of Gatcombe Park so all her grandchildren live on her doorstep. Planning permission is currently being sought to expand Gatcombe, so could Anne be making room for her ever expanding brood?

Much to Princess Anne’s delight, it seems the little ones have inherited the family love of the great outdoors and of course, horses – something which has served to strengthen the bond between Princess Anne and her grandchildren. Savannah and Isla have both had Shetland ponies since they were toddlers and it looks as if Mia too is set to follow in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps when it comes to her passion for horses.

According to sources, Princess Anne is a fun-loving gran who loves to play games with the youngsters, like hide and seek, catch or simply enjoying their company at the many events they attend together, such as the recent Horse Trials at Gatcombe where Princess Anne attended with daughter Zara, Autumn Phillips and all of her grandchildren.
