More people are now watching streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon than pay-per-view TV for the first time ever, according to Ofcom. Programmes like The Crown, Outlander and Stranger Things have all played a part in pulling viewers away from the traditiona­l cable channels like Sky and BT. Could this be where the future of telly lies? On Emmerdale, Ryan and Ross’ new friendship quickly leaves Charity in a sticky situation after a clumsy decision made by Ross. Matty and Victoria continue to grow close but Victoria soon panics and pushes Matty away. With both Halfway and Whitney stubbornly ignoring each other, Shirley hatches a plan to get them talking at The Vic, but her plan backfires this week on EastEnders. The Carters return from Southend with Tina feeling wary, and she isn’t happy when she finds the note Stuart left. Imran’s ex-wife stands firm on wanting ever y penny of his office fortune on Coronation Street, and Yasmeen has to deal with it. Tracy is furious when Steve fails to mention that he and Tim took a £1,000 bonus from their business. Elsewhere, Alya is proud of her huge new contract, and is handed a DVD of Aidan speaking about his role as a blood donor, and realising how much his family meant to him.
