He made history in 1979 when he became the first Western rock star to perform in Israel and the USSR.
He performed with John Lenn non onstage at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving Day in 1974. It turned out to be one of f John Lennon’s last ever major live stage performances.
When Elton changed his name from Reginald Dwight, he also gave himself the middle name of Hercules said to be in tribute to the horse called Hercules on 60s TV hit, Step toe and Son.
Elton is godfather to many of his famous friends’ children including Sean Lennon, Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, and Damian Hurley, Liz Hurley’s son.
Elton has performed with lots of fellow stars including Lady Gaga, George Michael and Alan Partridge.
