Christmas! A Right Royal

Traditions and Tinsel – how the British Royal Family spent Christmas then and now…

-

Christmas is one of the most important dates in the Royal calendar. For centuries, the Royal Family have been going all out to celebrate the festive season with serious style. From popularising Christmas trees and Christmas cards to their annual church gatherings, fanciful gifts and nearly a thousand years of tradition the Royals really know how to do St Nicholas proud.

The Queen broke tradition last year for Meghan Markle by inviting her over for Christmas dinner before she became an official member of the Royal Family. And rumour has it the Duchess of Sussex’s mother, Doria Ragland, will also have a seat at the table this year. Doria has spent a lot more time in the UK since her daughter announced her pregnancy and rumours abound that she may move permanently to this country. Meghan is, after all, her only child.

As an official Royal now, a lot more is likely to be expected of the Duchess this year. Meghan should keep it as tasteful as last year. During the black-tie dinner on Christmas Eve she can glam things up a bit as other members of the Royal Family wear their most lavish jewellery. Meghan has been the perfect princess so far!

Kate’s Cracking Coats!

There’s no Royal Christmas without a parade down to St Mary Magdalene Church for their Christmas Day service donning beautiful winter attire! Always dressed to impress are both the men and women, but truly dazzling is the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Her outfits over the years have consistently expressed style and personality while remaining classy.
