Have Fun This Christmas

Rediscover all the fun and laughter that some really silly party games can bring…

FACE FOOD

Great fun for partygoers of all ages! Divide everyone into two teams. The first person has to place an After Eight on their forehead, then get it from there into their mouth without u sing their hands. As soon as they’ve succeeded, the second person can ggo, and d so on. The winners are the first team to all be eating their After Eights. Tip: Don’t hold on to your After Eight while you’re waiting for your turn, it will start to soften and stick to your face.

BLACK MAGIC

Astound your family and friends with your mind-reading skills. kill You and a (pre-arranged) member of the party claim to be able to read each other’s thoughts. One of you goes out of the room and you ask your audience to identify an object in the room. The other person comes back in and you point to various objects, which the other person rejects, until you come to the object you point to immediately after you’ve pointed to something black (the clue’s in the name) ) and your y partner correctly identifies this as the item select ed.

THE CHOCOLATE GAME

OK, this is essentially a children’s party game but it works really well with adults, too. Everyone sits in a circle and takes turns to throw a dice. When it lands on a six, the thrower must put on a hat, scar f and bulky gloves, then t ry to eat squares from a bar of chocolate with a knif fe and fork. In the meantime, the other players are continuing to throw the dice and if another six is t thrown before you’ve managed to get the chocolate, your turn is over and you have to hand over the clothes and go back to the circle. It’s amazing how excited everyone gets over throwing a dice!

IN PLAIN SIGHT

Here’s a game to test players’ obser vation ski ills. The idea is that you place everyday items around y your house in incongruous places and the players haveh to spot as many as they can. Anything between 1 12 and 20 items will work. Ideas include a toothbrush on the Christmas tree, a knitting needle taped to the edge of a skirting board, an egg in place of fa lightbulb in a lamp, a clothes peg hanging from ma curtain – the only rule is that the item must be e visible without moving anything. Give the players a list of the items they’re looking for and set a time limit. The only drawback is that your whole house has to be tidy as your guests will be wandering round it!

NAME THAT SONG

Play short clips of songs and get your guests to write down the answers, either singly or in teams. You can buy CDs specifically for this game or if you’re re technically minded, record your own. If your guests are a range of ages, make sure you include different eras of songs. If you’re not up to recording clips, try reading out a line of a song lyric and getting the partygoers to name the song.
