I Retrained My Bra ain While I Sle ept

Elaine couldn’t tell you what the recordings said – but they’ve changed d her life and reduced her waistline!

When her daughter announced her August 2019 wedding, Elaine Grainger’s elation was tinged with concern. “I thought, Ohgreat! Then, Ohno! I don’ t want to look like this !” says Elaine, who is a specialist intensive care nurse. “I didn’t want to be a fat, frumpy mother of the bride.

“I’d always struggled with my weight and tried various slimming schemes only to regain weight again afterwards. I used to make lots of excuses, blaming my hormones or my age.

“I wouldn’t say that I had a reallyy unhealthy diet – I always knew what was healthy, but I didn’t gravitate towards it. I ate lots of refined carbs and sugary snacks and I was always too worn out to plan my meals so I would just grab anything to eat. My main problem was large portion sizes.”

So, when Elaine volunteered to join co-workers on the 12-week Slimpod weight-loss programme at Tameside Hospital in July last year, Elaine didn’t hold any great expectations of success.

“I would listen to the Slimpod nine-minute voice recordings via myy phone as I was falling asleep each night and I also followed the programme’s video from the founder, which was full of nutritional advice and information.

“It doesn’t matter if you fall asleep before the end of the messages as they are actually talkingg to your unconscious mind. I couldn’t even tell you exactly what was on many of them!

“There was a really high success rate at Tameside Hospital and it was good to do it as a group,, supporting each other. We’ve lost a great deal of weight between us and I personally lost 26lbs, dropping two dress sizes!

“Slimpod isn’t a diet, it’s a complete change of life. From day one it was absolutely life-changing for me and even within the first week I completely changed the way I ate and shopped.

“I now makek hhealthylh

choices, enjoying plennty of fresh fruit and vegetables, salads, leaan meat and oily fish. Because my shoppping has changed so dramatically, my partnerp has lost half a stone too.

“I have cut out carbbohydrates and I don’t eat bread, rice oor pasta any more. I have also cut out sweet things and I don’t snack in-between meals.

“My attitude to foood has completely changedd. My emotional connectioon with food was a problem, ppreviously – I would rather have eeaten a cake than fruit. Now, I’mm the opposite. I have cut my portion sizes down drastically, too. “Food doesn’t coontrol me any more – for the firsst time ever, I have the control. Food is noo longer a ‘treat’, it is ‘fuel’. “I feel physically beetter now, I have more energy and my backache has gone so I’m no longer on painkillers, which is a big plus for me.

“I used to wear baggy clothes but now I wear more tight-fitting clothes and brighter colours. The dress I’m wearing in my photo was the sort of dress that I had always wanted to wear but never had the confidence for. My clothes shopping has completely changed and there are lots of clothes in my wardrobe that I can now fit into again.

“I am happy with being a size 16 now. I just want to feel and look comfortable in my clothes and not have the big belly I had before.

“When I look down now, I can actually see my feet! I just wish I hadn’t waited until now to find out that I can control my weight. Everything I’ve done before has just been excuses but if I can do it, everyone can.”
