Maybe your “divide” stems from the way you were both brought up, or from the different character traits you have – but it doesn’t have to affect your future. It appears you have her contact details; maybe you both have children who have been in touch, as is often the case. I also suspect your parents may have passed on. Have you any friends in common, or other relatives? If so, they could help you to express your desire to re-establish contact. There are so many ways to do this, but if you don’t have extended family members to broker the first move, you could write a letter, an email or even make a phone call.
There is a chance you may be rebuffed, and it would be helpful if you can accept that before you write, but my advice is to try and try again. The sense of relief that you have reached out, especially at a time of isolation, will be huge.
