Olivier Awards

-

If you know about theatre, then you know about the Olivier Awards. The theatre equivalent of an Oscar, these awards were created in the 1970s but were then known as the Society of West End Awards. It wasn’t until 1984 when Laurence Olivier gave his permission for the awards to be named after him that the name changed. Recipients of the awards include Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Maggie Smith and the ceremony is broadcast on TV and radio every year.
