White rice has been processed, sapping it of fibre and minerals. Instead choose wholegrain – brown, red or black. Brown rice contains flavonoids linked to a reduced risk of heart disease and cancer, and has three times the fibre of white rice. Research shows that people who eat brown rice have far healthier blood sugar levels than those who consume white rice.
