A meat-rich diet has been shown to damage health, so increasing­ly people are eating plant protein. Many excellent forms are dry foods that can be kept in the pantry, including quinoa, puy lentils, pasta made from peas, red lentils or mung beans, and protein powders (such as rice and pea) to add to smoothies.
