“I was inspired to take a chance and be brave”

AHISHA FERGUSON, 35, FROM STEVENAGE, SAYS:

When my mum, Sherma, died suddenly after suffering from a brain aneurysm, I fell into a deep depression. I spent a lot of time in bed, but started to feel useless and needed to do something proactive. I run a nutrition coaching company, Transformation Health, so I poured all the knowledge I have about how to lose weight into a document and my book DietStopsMonday was born. It went on sale in 2018 and was an Amazon bestseller. The book is for women who are sick of dieting and want to learn to love themselves, and food, without starving. When I receive emails from people telling me it has changed their lives, I pinch myself. Women all over the world have been able to break free of the diet cycle because of my little book, which I wrote in bed. Next, I’d love to write a book about grief. It’s something I’m still dealing with and I’d like to be able to help others. I dedicated my first book to Mum and I hope she would be proud of the words I wrote in her memory.

Diet Stops Monday is available on Amazon and at Foyles

I was ner vous about how it would be received, but the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. My second book, Just My Type, was released last summer and has been a similar rollercoaster of emotions. I’m so proud of it. I’m now working on book three and am at my favourite stage where the ideas flow. It still feels ridiculous to call myself an author but it has been the best and most rewarding journey.

The Year Of Saying Yes and Just My Type are available on Amazon.
