At the time of my visit to Inndia, Mary’s Meals were pproviding just over 4,000 c hildren in India with a daily mmeal at school. I was delighted to o discover that since my visit, th hat figure has increased dramatical­ly. d Now Mary’s Meals M are feeding over 42,000 c hildren in India each day.

The pandemic has o obviously made life even more difficult d for those in need. Schools in India are unlikely to re-open before 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, Mary’s Meals continue to deliver lifechangi­ng sustenance to children in some of India’s poorest communitie­s, providing them with food they can take to eat at home.

Father Joson Tharakan, Country Co-ordinator of BREAD – Mary’s Meals’ long standing partner in India – said they were committed to helping children who would normally look forward to receiving this daily meal at school. He said, “The food is indeed a welcome relief to many of the families who are reeling under poverty and hunger as Covid-19 is still strong in many parts of India.
