The new mum tells us how she’s getting in shape after giving birth

After welcoming her son Roman with fiancé Ryan Thomas in March, Lucy Mecklenburgh has been relaxed about losing her baby weight. Rather than following the celebrity trend of quickly snapping back into shape, the former TOWIE star has been eating healthy meals and doing her fitness brand’s pre and post natal programme Results With Bump.

“Since having Roman I haven’t been following a diet and I’m only following some light stretches on Results With Bump. Instead I’m trying to be healthy, listen to my body and new. enjoy a slower pace of life,” Lucy tells

“Motherhood is incredibly tough on your body, which is why it’s so important to fill it with the right things. Currently I’m eating three balanced meals a day, topped up with healthy snacks and lots of water – breastfeeding requires a lot of fuel!”

Lucy, 28, tells us she will either have scrambled egg and avocado on toast, porridge with apple and cinnamon or a vegetable omelette for breakfast. Throughout the day she’ll snack on oat cookies, rice cakes with houmous and half an avocado.

But like most busy parents, Lucy doesn’t always have time to prepare food and admits to occasionally grabbing whatever she can.

“Sometimes having three balanced meals a day isn’t possible and it’s actually, ‘Two OK meals and six biscuits for lunch while rocking

the baby!’ Roman has had lots of crumbs dropped on his head the past four months,” jokes Lucy. “It’s OK to reach for the biscuit tin or get the odd takeaway – you’ve earned it being a mum.

“Everyone’s time poor and I know how easy it can be to default to takeaways when cooking seems daunting. The secret is to find speedy kitchen hacks – one of my faves is a coconut water, frozen fruit and vegetable and oat smoothie that takes a minute in the blender and will not only fill you up, but nourish your body.”

Fitness guru Lucy previously trained “three new to four times a week”, telling last year, “That’s perfect for me, but sometimes life gets in the way. I don’t get myself stressed about it. I just start afresh the next week.”

But while pregnant, she eased up her exercise regime in the run-up to the birth. “It’s all down to the individual and listening to your body. I’m doing so much around the house, I feel like I’ve done a workout most days,” she revealed in February.

“I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing as much as I used to now. If I do get a spare couple of hours, I’ll have a nap!”

Lucy is 4st lighter than she was just before giving birth, but she isn’t putting any pressure on herself to revert to her old regime.

“I’m moving my body gently every day doing lots of walks – fresh air does wonders for your mental health – along with gentle stretching from RWL’S Results With Bump programme,” continues Lucy. “I’m in no rush to return to my pre-baby body and want to spend these early months completely focused on Roman. I’m my best for him when I look after myself.”
