Gemma Collins shocked the nation when she shared a series of nasty messages she had received from on/off boyfriend James Argent last week. And now
new can reveal that she’s been devastated by his “verbal and emotional abuse” and is finally ready to move on from her troubled beau for good.
In the explosive texts, Arg calls his girlfriend a “hippo” and “fat f**k”. A pal close to the Diva Forever star tells new,
“His outbursts have hit Gemma hard. Her friends really believe she’s done with him this time. Knowing the couple, it could all start up again – as it has done many times before – but those closest to Gemma really hope the relationship is over for good.”
Gemma revealed the text
messages Arg has sent her in a screen grab of a row in which she’d criticised the 32-year-old for buying dinner for another woman. Gemma, 39, who stood by her man during his battles with drug and alcohol addiction, raged, “And the woman that saved your life has to pay for herself!!!” to which Arg hit back, “You are supposed to be treating me you hippo.”
In another exchange, Arg, who was in Marbella earlier this month to perform at his pal Elliott Wright’s bar, sent her a plane emoji in response to a pic of some flight details. When Gemma replied, “I’ll take a mate, I’m not booking it. You said you would be a gentleman!” Arg exploded, “YOU FAT F**K.”

Gemma. She’s vulnerable. She’s insecure about her weight anyway, so that really hit her hard. It’s verbal and emotional abuse. It was devastating for her.”
Gemma also posted a “Top 10 signs of emotional abuse in a relationship” on Instagram, writing a heartfelt message to caption the image.
“Please please find the strength to walk away. There is a better life for you filled with love and respect and always remember the problem isn’t within you it’s within them,” she wrote. “Something will happen one day and you will just say enough is enough. It’s in that moment the nightmare is over.”
Gemma later seemed to confirm a report that claimed
Arg had asked her for an open relationship, devastating the star, who’d been desperate for them to start trying for a baby.
In a leaked message to Arg, she wrote, “I am sorry about putting the messages up, I was just so hurt you suggested an open relationship, it didn’t look like a joke when you typed it.
“I was so upset but I shouldn’t have put the messages up, that was anger on my part which was wrong. I am so sorry about that.”
Arg’s vile texts were sent just three months after he showed remorse for reportedly calling Gemma a “horrible fat lump” who had “more rolls than Greggs”. He confessed at the time, “I deeply regret what I said. I have problems with my own weight, so I’m the last person who should be trying to fat-shame.”
Indeed, he was snapped at Heathrow airport earlier this month looking like he’s regained some of the weight he lost during his stint in rehab in Thailand earlier this year.
“Arg has been comfort eating as a result of the break-up and the fallout,” says our source.
“He eats when he’s stressed and it’s clear he’s having a hard time. He’s piled on the pounds he lost recently as he deals with the mess.”
Gemma, meanwhile, has spent months working hard to lose weight to boost her chances of becoming pregnant. She has dropped 3st since she competed in Dancing On Ice last year and shared snippets of her holiday workouts with pals in Marbella last week.
Our insider says Gemma is determined to put their toxic relationship behind her now and focus on her career. She’s even been tipped for Hollywood stardom – she is reportedly in talks to star in a movie about finding fame, alongside Jacqueline Jossa, Ferne Mccann and Kathy Burke.
“It’s been a tough time for Gemma, but she’s feeling stronger than ever now and wants to move on with her life without Arg,” her pal adds.
“She’s had to deal with a lot recently – he’s not been kind to her. But now everyone knows what Arg can be like, Gemma will really try to move on and concentrate on her career. Her friends just pray he won’t find a way back into her life.”
Last week, Gemma told fans she would be taking a break from social media.
“Hey guys, as you can imagine I am absolutely heartbroken right now, shocked totally in pain and can’t be pretending
I’m all smiles over the gram,” she wrote. “I am so upset and devastated and hurt, I need some time off the gram to heal.”
Arg’s rep declined to comment.
