Farm plan would provide 30 jobs

-

A DEVELOPMENT that could see up to 30 new jobs created in West Berkshire will go before councillors next week.

Plans for Shalford Farm, which forms part of the Wasing Estate, would include a farm shop, onsite restaurant and accommodation.

The plans are designed to support both the estate’s existing farming enterprise and wedding business at Wasing Park.

In addition to supporting the wedding business, the estate said that these uses will support the farming enterprises by providing an opportunity for the sale and consumption of estate-sourced produce offering a true ‘Field to Fork’ experience.

The application, which received no objections from Brimpton Parish Council in March, is set to go before West Berkshire Council’s Eastern Area Planning Committee on Wednesday.

The application has been recommended for refusal by officers.

Plans for 104 homes north of The Green in Theale will also go before the committee.

The plans have been submitted by the Englefield Estate and have been recommended for approval.
